Superconductivity and Antiferromagnetism

چکیده
We study the structure of symmetric vortices in a Ginzburg–Landau model based on S. C. Zhang’s SO(5) theory of high temperature superconductivity and antiferromagnetism. We consider both a full Ginzburg–Landau theory (with Ginzburg–Landau scaling parameter κ < ∞) and a κ → ∞ limiting model. In all cases we find that the usual superconducting vortices (with normal phase in the central core region) become unstable (not energy minimizing) when the chemical potential crosses a threshold level, giving rise to a new vortex profile with antiferromagnetic ordering in the core region. We show that this phase transition in the cores is due to a bifurcation from a simple eigenvalue of the linearized equations. In the limiting large κ model we prove that the antiferromagnetic core solutions are always nondegenerate local energy minimizers and prove an exact multiplicity result for physically relevent solutions. The self-energy-functional approach is a powerful many-body tool to investigate different broken symmetry phases of strongly correlated electron systems. We use the variational cluster perturbation theory (also called the variational cluster approximation) to investigate the interplay between the antiferromagnetism and d-wave superconductivity of κ-(ET)2 X conductors. These compounds are desc...
متن کاملSuperconductivity and Antiferromagnetism in Quasi-one-dimensional Organic Conductors
We review the current understanding of superconductivity in the quasi-onedimensional organic conductors of the Bechgaard and Fabre salt families. We discuss the interplay between superconductivity, antiferromagnetism, and charge-density-wave fluctuations. The connection to recent experimental observations supporting unconventional pairing and the possibility of a tripletspin order parameter for...

Calorimetry experiments under high pressure were used to clarify the interplay between different states such as superconductivity and antiferromagnetism in CeRhIn5, spin density wave and large moment antiferromagnetism in URu2Si2. Evidences are given on the re-entrance of antiferromagnetism under magnetic field in the superconducting phase of CeRhIn5 up to pc = 2.5 GPa where the Néel temperatur...
متن کاملCHARGE SEGREGATION AND ANTIFERROMAGNETISM IN HIGH-Tc SUPERCONDUCTORS
Local antiferromagnetism coexists with superconductivity in the cuprates. Charge segregation provides a way to reconcile these properties. Direct evidence for modulated spin and charge densities has been found in neutron and X-ray scattering studies of Nd-doped La2−xSrxCuO4. Here we discuss the nature of the modulation, and present some new results for a Zn-doped sample. Some of the open questi...
